"The Thinker” is a wooden self-portrait Allan carved jestingly after a trip to Paris in the late summer of 1999. He spent four weeks there, immersed in the exhibits of the Louvre and the Rodin Museum, sketching the world's great sculptures. Upon coming home, he groaned in sketchbook, “So many sculpture ideas, so little time.”
