"Yours was an untamed and brilliant vitality. You inspired and made exquisite creations for the benefit of all of us. You invited everyone to connect in deeper ways, to consider their Source and to live for their passion...
When asked, 'What am I here for to offer the World?', your answer was clear: everything you had, or could muster by your will and grit and love. I am broken by your loss and offer these words to the eternal flame of your heart."
"A yellow foam block with room for wonder. Yellow foam head turned into a finished bronze piece. Many will never know how its done. His Light was so strong I can't believe how he hid it, but the darkness was persistent, growing, a virus.
We remember your Light."
“It isn’t only that I don’t see Gabe anymore. Now we see his absence and encounter it as something tangible. His not being among us is like the sharply outlined emptiness of a photo with a figure cut out precisely with scissors.
Now the missing figure is more important, more dominant than all the others."
“I continue to be moved by your creative genius and raw medicine. There was great hope in your capacity, tenderness in your art."
Also following his death - friends, family, and the Charlottesville community came together to celebrate Gabe's life.
Hundreds of tributes poured in, expressing their sorrow and love.
